Q: Do you file with insurance?
A: YES! We are a participating provider for Tricare, Medicare, and BCBS NC beneficiaries.
If you are a Tricare member (Prime and Select policies), with a Doctor’s referral we can submit for your required authorization and bill your policy at no additional cost to you.
If you are a BCBS NC member and all other commercial policies (Humana, UHC, etc), Pender Pelvic Health & Therapy Services will file your medical claim for you. There are other insurance policies we work closely with so please reach out to use with any questions regarding your policy.
Q: Do I need a referral from my doctor in order to schedule an appointment?
A: No! North Carolina is a direct access state therefore you have direct access to the physical therapy care you deserve and want! The exception to this rule is if you would like to bill your insurance provider for coverage of PT services. Medicare and Tricare Prime policies do require a referral as well as some commercial payers. It is best to call your policy first to find out!
Q: What is pelvic floor physical therapy?
A: Like a traditional Physical Therapy session, you will begin by simply talking about your pain, concerns, questions, etc. Next, a thorough external orthopedic exam is performed. This looks at hips, spine, posture, strength, movement, and more. IF an internal exam is warranted, your PT will explain what this entails in detail prior to. An internal exam is never required, though often it is a very accurate way for your PT to gather information about your condition.
Q: What makes Pender Pelvic Health & Therapy Services different?
A: We offer a boutique style PT experience. We strive to make your experience private, comfortable, and tailored to meet your needs as a whole individual, not just a body part! Your therapist will have time to check in with you between sessions and offer you more time at each session to allow for better, more comprehensive care. We also offer at home, mobile therapy services so you don’t have to leave the comfort of your home. We will travel to you to meet your needs.
Q: How soon after the delivery of my baby can I schedule?
A: You should schedule an appointment as soon as you feel up to it. Pender Pelvic Health offers postpartum appointments that include Home Visits for immediately postpartum moms. Once you feel like you are ready, you can get started. You do not necessarily need to wait until your follow up with your OB unless your pregnancy or delivery was very complex. We are trained to know about healing time, safety, and what can and can’t be done in the immediate postpartum time.
Q: Can I bring my baby to my appointment?
A:Totally up to you! As moms, we often don’t have a choice about bringing our kids with us. Just remember that as moms, we also do not get to focus as well when our kids are around. You are the one paying for your session, so please do whatever makes you most comfortable and makes you feel like you are getting the most out of your time with your therapist!
